some days

099e

Some days they feel like this.

Some days I feel like this.

Some days we all feel like this and it's no good.

Some days I just have to get away and refill my well of patience, because let's face it....June Cleaver is a fictional character and mothers are not perfect.

And after being cooped up in the house with snow and ice and a week's worth of school cancellations, yesterday I felt like this. So in the best interest of my sanity and my children's well being I hopped in the car and took off for some quiet {alone} time. I started out hitting up a few of my favorite thrift and antique stores. I scored an out of print paperback for 25 cents, it's the little things that make me happy. I then stopped and picked up a grape soda and snickers bar, because chocolate makes everything better you know, and decided to take a ride out to Carter's Lake.

It was such a peaceful ride. I alternated between listening to some of my favorite rock music as loud as I wanted to listening to nothing but the wind as I flew down the road. I was surprised to see that there were still some icy spots along the way since our temperatures have been above freezing for several days now. Parts of the lake were still frozen.

And I pulled over to the side of the road to take a look at this stream.

I stood there for a while just listening. The sound of running water put such a sense of peace over me. I felt rejuvenated. I was ready to return home and deal with the high energy demands of a 5yo, a 2yo, and a puppy, and whatever else life decided to throw my way.

Some days it's easy to get lost in the everyday frustrations.

Some days it's okay to admit it.

Some days you just need to take a break from it all.

Some days it's important to just breathe.

3 thanks for stopping by, i love comments!:

What a sad little face. And that lip! Oh, that poor little lip!

I'm glad you got out and found some peace and some good music to listen to in the middle. Nice shots of the water and ice

I think I've seen that before but it seems forever ago. Love you, but you really should listen to country. That tells you your problems really ain't so bad.
